Domestic Flights

Miami is one of the most popular cities in America when it comes to vacations. Because of this Miami International Airport is also one of the busiest airports. If you are trying to find cheap flights to Miami you can take advantage of this. Not only do you have international flights that you can catch short hops with, but you also have your local flights. This makes for an enormous amount of competition amongst the airlines and in turn and enormous amount of savings for you.

Being a large international airport, the airlines will fly their passengers into Miami from all over the U.S. prior to flying them to their overseas destinations. These shorter flights usually don't get booked up. Due to this you can usually find last minute space available on these flights. Miami is a great destination if you would like to fly on standby. Flying on standby basically means that you have purchased a deeply discounted ticket, but you don't have a guaranteed seat. You need to wait for an opening. Airlines will sell these tickets in order to guarantee a full place prior to takeoff.

If you are flying in a large group, flying standby would not be beneficial to you, unless of course you don't care if you all arrive at different times and days. However, you may be able to take advantage of group discount rates. When checking on prices, make sure that you ask about any group discounts that may be available.

Sometimes the airlines themselves aren't the best place to get those cheap flights to Miami. You may be able to get better pricing through other companies. For instance, travel agents might be able to get you a better deal. Travel agents get deep discounted pricing from the airlines in exchange for bringing them customers. Different agents will get different deals from the airlines, so make sure that you compare prices with different agents as well. When you book with one of these travel agents, they will more than likely try to give you a full package deal. These deals usually include hotels, rental cars and meals. If you would prefer to take one of these packages you can save even more money, but if all you are looking for is a flight, they can still accommodate you as well.

One of the newest type of travel agents is the online agent. The most famous of these are Travelocity, Priceline and Orbitz. These sites operate similar to your local travel agents. If you are using these types of websites, keep in mind that their pricing will vary as well. Check several of these before making a purchase.

Don't forget about looking into other other discounts that you may be eligible for in order to get cheap flights to Miami. Senior citizen discounts, military discounts and student discounts are some that may be available to you. When shopping around for these cheap flights keep all of these tips in mind. If you do, you will find that it doesn't have to cost a fortune and soon you'll be on one of the best beaches of the world.
